A Letter from the Executive Director
It has been a wild time to join earthday365, in a time of tremendous uncertainty where our situation changes day by day. Part of why I chose to join the organization is because of the role that the St. Louis Earth Day Festival has played in my life to connect me with a community of like-minded people, ever since volunteering for the Festival as a teenager. It was a place where I could explore my budding environmental consciousness and find resources to answer my questions. Despite all of the ways our lives have radically changed in the past few weeks, earthday365’s mission to bring together the environmental community in celebration and connect you to the resources to live your best life, is as true as ever.
We are very proud to announce that we have rescheduled the St. Louis Earth Day Festival to Sunday, October 18th in Tower Grove Park, so please mark your calendars! I am especially excited about the ways we plan to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day through a Virtual Festival during the week of April 18-26. During a time when we are all stuck in isolation, this is an opportunity to come together in celebration through live, interactive programming with a huge concentration of environmental content, all in one place.
I have developed tremendous respect for the earthday365 team who’ve had their world turned upside down and managed to pivot with grace and make — shall we say high quality compost out of discarded kitchen scraps? Thank you for everything that you are doing to support the environmental community in these turbulent times, whether through ordering takeout at a Green Dining Alliance restaurant or donating to support our mission. I look forward to seeing you at the Virtual Festival!
With gratitude,
Dr. Jess Watson
