Announcing Power Up St. Louis Earth Day!
StraightUp Solar and St. Louis Earth Day are coming together to make St. Louis a cleaner and greener place to live. St. Louis Earth Day manages critical programs for the community like the Green Dining Alliance and Recycling on the Go. They also put on the St. Louis Earth Day festival each year, which is the largest Earth Day Festival in the midwest. You can now help Power Up St. Louis Earth Day by going solar!
For every person that signs up to Power Up St. Louis Earth Day and installs a solar array on their home with StraightUp Solar, the company will donate $500 to St. Louis Earth Day to help with their programming. Going solar will not only save you money and help clean up the air close to home, but now it can help a nonprofit that is helping make the St. Louis community better!
Why is it a good time to go solar in St. Louis?
In addition to benefiting a great nonprofit, it is a great time to go solar in St. Louis because of financial tax credits and low interest loans that are about to expire. The City of St. Louis has a Green Help Low Interest Loan (around 2%) that will no longer be available after 2018. The Federal Solar Tax Credit is currently at 30% and starts decreasing after 2019 and will completely disappear by 2021.
Missouri has also passed Property Assessed Clean Energy Financing, which allows financial institutions to partner with cities and counties to offer financing by attaching the financing to the property with payments made through property taxes. If you live in the city of St. Louis the company you would work with is Ygrene, and if you live outside the city then you would use HERO through Renovate America.
