We always have a need for
Recycling On the Go Clean Stewards, Tear Down Heroes, and Traffic Control

Pre-Event Set Up Crew/Vendor Assistance Set Up: Help us prepare The Muny grounds for the Festival. Activities may include, but are not limited to: moving tables/chairs, setting up barricades picnic tables and traffic signage, vendor unloading/set-up assistance and placing recycling bins throughout the Festival footprint. (Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.)

Vendor Mobile Check-in – Theater Dr.: Early vendor set-up will take place on Friday afternoon. Check in vendors as they enter the Festival footprint, hand out temporary parking permits, and record the vendor’s arrival. Late vendor set-up is on Saturday. Check in vendors 7a-9a as they enter the Festival footprint, hand out temporary parking permits, and record the vendor’s arrival. Street will be blocked at this location the rest of the day to only admit staff, entertainment, VIPs, vendors and volunteers with parking pass to park in Lower Muny lot.

Team Green Surveyors – Handout QR code flyers to attendees to fill out an online Festival survey for important feedback.

Traffic Control – Cricket Drive Exit: Manage access point to keep unauthorized vehicles from coming through barricades. Direct traffic flow one way thru the footprint of the Festival during Friday Set up day. Communicate to vehicles that the streets of the Festival footprint close to vehicles at 9:00am on Festival days. All cars need to exit the area by that time. General greeter to Festival attendees.

Traffic Control – McKinley Dr. : Manage access point to keep unauthorized vehicles from coming through barricades. Direct traffic flow one way thru the footprint of the Festival during Friday Set up day. Communicate to vehicles that the streets of the Festival footprint close to vehicles at 9:00am on Festival days. All cars need to exit the area by that time. General greeter to Festival attendees.

Traffic Control – Theater Dr./Union entrance: Manage vehicle access to Festival. Street will be blocked at this location to only vendors beginning at 7 am and to volunteers throughout the day to park in Lower Muny lot.

(Set Up) Traffic Control – Cricket Dr./Pagoda Circle: Important to general traffic flow in and around Festival footprint, volunteers will direct vendors, volunteers, public, and answer questions.

Earth Day Challenge Booth: Greet attendees, promote membership, and enter them in raffle for completing 2 of 4 challenges – using a reusable container (bottle, bag, utensils, etc.), taking alternative transportation to the Festival, eating a vegan meal at the Festival, and composting at home. We will also be asking attendees to fill out a short survey to determine if we are serving the community equitably.

Bike Parking Attendant – McKinley Drive or Theater Drive: Manage the free bike parking area for the many riders that arrive at the Festival on two wheels. Assist as needed, riders to self-park and lock their bikes to utilize the area as efficiently as possible. Keep record of number of riders utilizing the parking option.

Omnivores (do anything): Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to fill in where needed–experience a variety of volunteer responsibilities at the Festival by helping us best meet our needs.

Info Booths: Welcome visitors and answer questions relating to schedules and locations at main Info Booth and Green Dining Alliance (GDA) booth. Looking for previous experience and new volunteers to learn the ropes! (Requires patience and good communication/people skills.)

Merchandise Booth: Volunteers needed with sales experience to encourage attendees’ purchases of this year’s St. Louis Earth Day t-shirts, raffle tickets, and other items.

Entertainment Roadie: Work at our main stage assisting entertainers set up for their acts. Help entertainers unload and load their vehicles before and after their gigs. An understanding of audio equipment and speakers is preferred, but not necessary. Just ask before you grab!

Program Distribution & Crowd Counting: Teams of two will greet attendees with a smile and an event program, while counting arrivals using a clicker. We will also be asking attendees to fill out a short survey to determine if we are serving the community equitably.

Recycling On the Go Team Setup: Help setup the 16+ Waste Stations on the Festival grounds that make it possible to keep over 90% of the waste from going to landfills. Lifting and hauling pop-up tents, 20-30# weight bags, tables, and other equipment. Concurrently, we will be managing vendor waste from setup: hauling cardboard and other waste materials for recycling, composting, and trash to onsite containers.

Recycling On the Go – Clean Stewards: From the morning Setup crew to the Satisfaction Team on Sunday night, make an important impact on the event and on each visitor by maintaining clean Festival grounds, hauling vendor waste materials, and helping attendees sort their waste for recycling and compostable materials at Waste Stations. The best part of an event is the satisfaction of seeing the combined impact of many hands on reducing waste to landfill by over 90%! Help the tired staff Sunday evening breakdown equipment for loading into vehicles and haul final waste materials to dumpsters. To read more, visit our ROG program pages. Social (Media) Butterflies: This job is for the social media enthusiasts out there! All you have to do is ENJOY the Festival – and post pics and videos of Earth Day’s attractions to your social media accounts as you walk around. Tag #stlearthdayfestival and @stlouisearthday.

Sustainable Fashion Show Assistants: Work with the designers and models behind the catwalk to support the Sustainable Fashion Show. This position will assist with running errands for participants, keeping the dressing area clear and organized, and ensuring things run smoothly.

Transportation: Important to general traffic flow in and around Festival footprint, volunteers will direct vendors, volunteers, public and answer questions. Volunteers over 18 years old are needed for certain locations to drive golf cart transports to and from parking lots for disabled attendees and for Main Stage entertainers.

Volunteer Hospitality: Helps coordinate food: snacks and beverages for volunteers at the Volunteer HQ. Works with Volunteer Coordinator

Tear Down Heroes: Help return The Muny grounds to their pre-Festival splendor. Activities may include, but are not limited to: breaking-down earthday365 booths (such as Info, recycling stations, volunteer, merchandise, etc.), table/chair stacking, traffic flow control, picking up debris on the event grounds, and assisting with supplies load out. Help to supervise special parking areas, such as the musician/performers parking area. (Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.)
