Grow the Festival’s Roots

In 1993, I got a tiny cedar sapling at the St. Louis Earth Day Festival and planted it in my parent’s backyard. Today, I can look at the tree and measure the impact the Festival has had on my life – and the lives of thousands of others who deepen their green commitments on a yearly basis. How has it impacted your life?

We at earthday365 are planning for a 2022 Festival that will be even more surprising, enriching, and connecting. We need your support to Bring the Festival Back on Give STL Day May 6th!

But your support doesn’t only help to bring back the St. Louis Earth Day Festival in 2022. We have embarked on a year-long series of Environmental Justice Days of Action in partnership with impacted communities, and just in April we marshalled 170 volunteers who spent 350 hours constructing potato beds in North County and picking up tons of illegally dumped trash in O’Fallon Park and Dutchtown.

Another major focus for earthday365 is reducing food waste, through a Food Waste Drop-Off booth at local farmer’s markets, but crucially, also through a regional messaging campaign to educate and change behavior about one of the largest generators of greenhouse gases that we have control over as individuals – the food we throw away. Our continued work with Green Dining Alliance restaurants also reduces food waste by huge amounts regionally every year, and helps to green the restaurant industry as a whole.

Give STL DayAnd coming soon: A new reusable To Go container program, to reduce the mountains of take-out trash we are all generating. Your support on Give STL Day May 6th will help to make this program a reality, and support all of the important sustainability initiatives we are spearheading in the region. Every donation of $25 or more also includes a membership – so please join the movement for a more sustainable St. Louis region today!
