Mardi Gras 2018

Hark, all ye festive patrons of the environment! The streets of St. Louis City are showing signs of Mardi Gras decorations and celebrations. St. Louis Earth Day is proud to be apart of this French tradition for the very first time. We are honored to be asked to participate in the upcoming Bud Light Grand Parade on February 10th and we accept this quest. Our Recycling on the Go van and recycling krewe will make their parade debut in grand fashion by towing our giant recycling cart in the theme of RecycALOT – a nod to Camelot and the Muny’s 100th season.

As environmental advocates, Recycling On the Go and St. Louis Earth Day are always looking for ways to excite and motivate our communities to be more involved when it comes to recycling. Hence, our RecycALOT van and merry band of recyclers who hath brought sustainability and a new kind of justice to the St. Louis realm since 2006, will be joined by Sir SortALOT and Lady Greenevere on their quest for environmental justice. Behold the mighty trash collecting swords and informational shields of Sir CANahad and Lady LitterNot which will promote environmentally friendly Earth Day/Every Day concepts. This merry lot of revelers can also be found spreading the word about the importance of year round recycling and the impact this has in our communities at several events throughout the St. Louis province.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Take heed my beaded folk! Behold the Recycling Extravaganza event coming up on April 8th, at the St. Louis Community College – Forest Park location. Recycle thine Mardi Gras beads!! The recycling krewe will be on hand to pillage those and other hard to recycle items and find new purpose for their use.

Come one, come all to the St. Louis Earth Day Festival as it spans a two day celebration in Forest Park on April 21st – 22nd. Learn new and innovative ways to positively impact the environment within our local communities and abroad.

Lest we forget, that patronizing eating establishments with the Green Dining Alliance restaurant certification programs will help slay the dragons of waste and inefficiency through recycling, energy efficiency, and other strategies that make St. Louis greener.

So to all ye St. Louisians, let us remember this Mardi Gras season to celebrate and encourage all that is our history and tradition by helping to better your quality of life in sharing – Our Common Home – and being kind to our environment in the process.

*UPDATE*

Despite the cold, our team had a blast spreading the word about recycling at St. Louis Mardi Gras. Take a look at our silliness!
