Show Your Support for St. Louis Earth Day, Every Day

Our annual festival in Forest Park only lasts for one magical day, but St. Louis Earth Day operates 365 days a year to provide services that support environmental efforts with our programs: Recycling On the Go, Green Dining Alliance, and our Earth Day Action Grants.

Have you ever attended Fair St. Louis, Pride-fest, or Food Truck Friday and noticed a tent full of smiling lunatics sorting your recycling and compost for you? Recycling On the Go provides much-needed recycling and composting services for major events in and around the St. Louis area, as well as providing DIY services for smaller events, like weddings, graduation parties and company picnics. Recycling On the Go is the reason you expect to see recycling bins at every event in the region – they have diverted over 400 tons of waste from the landfill with their efforts.

Ever gotten food in Styrofoam and thought, “really? It’s 2016. Get with the program.” The program the restaurant should get with is the Green Dining Alliance, which works with restaurants to help them get rid of Styrofoam, start recycling, phase in efficient lighting, and source locally whenever possible. They provide diners with a handy list of restaurants that bear the Green Dining Alliance’s certification sticker, proof that they are an environmentally responsible business that you can feel good about supporting.

St. Louis Earth Day gives out $10,000 in Earth Day Action Grants every year for nonprofits and individuals to assist with or kickstart their environmental visions. Past recipients have used their awards for projects as varied as providing infrastructure for recycling, to funding container garden education programs for low-food-access areas,  to supporting sustainable backyard garden tours, to conservation projects that help remove exotic species from our wildlife areas.

St. Louis Earth Day also offers the unique Recycling Extravaganza event as a one-stop spot for all of your Hard-to-Recycle items like used electronics, bikes and bike parts, clothing, and even a paper-shredding station!

These programs support the community, and they need the community’s support to thrive. Show your love for St. Louis Earth Day by purchasing a St. Louis Earth Day sticker and help us to fund the programs that make St. Louis a greener, greater place to live and grow!
