To honor the St. Louis Earth Day Festival 30th anniversary in 2019, the community is invited to help plant 30 trees in O’Fallon Park on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 9am.
Consecutively for the past 30 years, vendors, exhibitors, musicians, nonprofits and the community have assembled to engage in all conversations related to care for our planet Earth. The St. Louis Earth Day Festival has moved several times over the years from Creve Coeur Park, to Tower Grove Park, to the Chain of Rocks Bridge, but has settled on the Muny Grounds in Forest Park in recent years.
Organizers, earthday365, assembled a working committee to plan and execute special activities and events, in honor of the anniversary. Earthday365 board member, Colleen Autry, wanted to create a project for the community that would last for future generations, and incorporate the 30th theme. Colleen imagined planting 30 trees in a public park that would bring volunteers together from the neighborhood and from across the area to participate.
Colleen explained, “Planting these 30 trees will provide shade and beauty for the next thirty years and beyond, in O’Fallon Park. Our city parks are one of the biggest assets to residents of St. Louis, as they provide green space, recreation, habitat, and help support a more sustainable future for our neighbors.”
