SLED receives $4,850.95 from Whole Foods.

Thanks to conscientious shoppers and Whole Foods Market in Brentwood, St. Louis Earth Day has just received a $4,850.95 donation from the local grocery store chain! Shoppers who brought their own reusable bags to the store during April, May and June were given a choice to receive $.10 off their bill for each bag used or donate it to St. Louis Earth Day. Over 48,000 re-usable bags and thousands of individuals helped make this fundraising campaign a success!

The donation will go to support the newly launched Green Dining Alliance program, which was featured in our July newsletter.

Donate Your Dime, instituted at the Plantation Whole Foods Market on April 12, 2010, is a program designed to encourage customers to reuse their shopping bags. When you use your own shopping bags, you have the chance to donate! One local charity is chosen as the beneficiary each quarter.
