Bike Bonanza!

Saint Louis loves its bicycle commuters. With over 135 miles of bike lanes in the Saint Louis Network, using your self-powered, two wheeled machine to get where you’re going has never been easier. The City of Saint Louis has even added a new position to ensure the safety of bike riders and those on foot with a new Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator.

We have several other organisations in the city that advocate for alternative transportation, including Citizens for Modern Transit, Trailnet, and the Great Rivers Greenway. Metro St. Louis’s  Bike & Ride program encourages cycling in conjunction with public transit by providing infrastructure that allows you to bring your bike aboard the Metrolink trains or on their bus bicycle racks!

St. Louis Earth Day loves bicycles too – that’s why we’ve partnered with Schlafly, Big Shark Bicycle Company, and Trailnet to provide free Bike Valet services for those that ride their bikes to our Earth Day Festival in Forest Park this April 24th. Ride one of the many paths in Forest Park to the Festival grounds at the Muny, just South of the Visitor’s Center. The Bike Valets will be located at Pagoda Circle at McKinley Drive and on Theater Drive.

But wait, there’s more: FREE tune-ups for your wheels will be provided at the Theatre Drive valet location, compliments of Big Shark Bicycle Company, just in time for cycling season!

It’s a bike bonanza at Earth Day this year, with literature provided by Triple A on safely sharing the road with cars and bicycles – Subaru is even showing off their bike racks on the cars they’re bringing to the festival.

Bringing your bike has a bunch of benefits, including eligibility to win the Earth Day Challenge prize and the opportunity to participate in the Schlafly Slow Roll ride to the festival.

This year, avoid parking holdups and come to Earth Day on two wheels – commuting is a blast on a bike, especially when your route winds through Forest Park in the Spring!
