Green Business Challenge
On Friday, September 5th, St. Louis Earth Day participated in a green business expo, hosted by the Green Business Challenge (a program of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and the Missouri Botanical Garden).
Participants who attended the seminar prior to the expo were treated to a keynote address by Tim Murch, President and CEO of MMMM, a green cleaning company, who laid out the business case for using non-chemical cleaning practices. He was followed by a panel discussion about one group’s experience in seeking Green Business Challenge certification.
Following the seminar, participants attended an expo of companies and organizations who provide goods and services designed to help a business attain certification from the Green Business Challenge.
Our booth highlighted both the Green Dining Alliance and the Recycling On the Go programs. Attendees were provided a list of GDA-certified restaurants that offer corporate catering. GDA-certified restaurants are a good destination for company events or business meetings. And, corporate cafeterias are also eligible to become certified by the Green Dining Alliance.
Recycling On the Go can be utilized as a full-service event greening consultant and zero-waste manager for larger company meetings and events. Alternatively, the DIY (Do-it-yourself) container loan program can be utilized for company picnics and smaller events.
